Job Description:

Employment Security Department (ESD) is recruiting for the Director of the Unemployment Insurance (UI) Tax and Wage Division.  The Director is responsible and accountable to the Commissioner for the effective and efficient management of the UI Tax and Wage Division program within the laws, rules and regulations as prescribed within Title 50 RCW.

The Director provides leadership, direction, control, coaching and guidance to the UI Tax and Wage Division managers and ensures that ESD is able to meet its goal to support economic stability through a just and timely tax and wage system by collecting the legislatively mandated taxes owed by Washington State businesses.  The Director creates and articulates the vision of the division; inspires people to achieve outstanding customer outcomes; and facilitates an environment of trust and transparency that employees find both engaging and inclusive.

The Director acts as a representative for UI tax and wage issues at the State and Federal level.  The position coordinates complex tax and wage rules and regulations, and manages program affairs with other ESD divisions and state agencies.  The Director is accountable and responsible for the development, interpretation, implementation, and monitoring of tax and wage regulations, policies, operational procedures, UI tax and select Agency storage and retrieval, overall tax and wage information, and collection activities, including the statewide delivery of tax collection activities and collection of benefit overpayments.
