Required Skills:

Experience and/or education in conducting or facilitating classroom training for adults. 
Professional and/or para-professional experience in career guidance, vocational counseling, vocational counseling, job placement or similar functions such as human resources, social services, business management, marketing, adult education, or employee training.
Ability to read, write and speak fluent Somali and English language.

This position requires successful completion of the following:
Employee reference checks will be conducted on all finalists.  This may include a review of documentation related to job performance.  It includes contact with the applicant's current and/or former employers.

When the position requires travel and the applicant drives a state owned or leased vehicle, a driver's license and record check will be conducted.

Job Description:

This position will work as a Community Liaison Representative and will work exclusively with Somali speaking clients/customers who are receiving public assistance.
The successful candidate will be providing Job Counselor/Case Management work.
Duties include:
Provide assistance and language interpretation services to Somali speaking customers regarding job search.  Provide career guidance assessments, counsel, advice and services to customers; coach, teach and assist job seekers in improving their job search skills.
Interview job applicants, specifically Somali applicants, to gather and evaluate their skills, education and training so that qualifications for appropriate referrals can be determined.
Provide skill match referrals for job seekers, especially Somali job seekers so that their economic needs and goals can be met.
Organize and facilitate Creative Job Search, Resume Writing and other employment-related workshops; and proctor ACT's National Career Readiness Certificate testing sessions so that job seekers can identify career goals, write effective resumes and post them on, understand and use the most effective job search techniques, and find a job that matches their skills and abilities.
Establish and maintain effective professional working relationships with employers.
