President Bush Signs Bill Extending Unemployment Insurance Benefits President Bush has signed into law H.R. 2642, the supplemental appropriations bill that provides up to 13 weeks of extended unemployment insurance (UI) benefits in all states and $110 million in supplemental funding in the form of Grants to States for the UI administrative costs for the balance of fiscal year 2008. 19,000 Veterans to Benefit from Nearly $30 Million in Job Training Grants from U.S. Department of Labor Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao has announced 103 grants, totaling nearly $30 million, to provide approximately 19,000 veterans with job training to help them succeed in civilian careers. The grants are being awarded under the U.S. Department of Labor's Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program and Veterans' Workforce Investment Program. (06/30/08)
