Winter Policy Forum 2018 and Committee Meetings

The 2018 Winter Policy Forum is a gathering for NASWA state workforce members to discuss current and developing trends in the workforce system and how they will be affected by changes occurring in the national landscape. The meeting will focus on collaboration with representatives from the Administration, Congress, US Dept. of Labor, Intergovernmental (IGO) partner organizations, WIOA partner groups, and other D.C. policy-making groups. The Policy Forum has historically been attended by over 150 representatives of state workforce agencies, from heads of agencies to key staffers.

The Board of Directors meeting will begin at 1:00pm on Monday, February 26, 2018 and adjourn at 12:00pm noon on Tuesday, February 27, 2018.

NLx Steering Committee Meeting

The National Labor Exchange (NLx) is a sophisticated electronic labor-exchange network, created in 2007 in a partnership agreement between NASWA and DirectEmployers Association. This is an unprecedented public-private partnership that leverages private non-profit-owned technology with existing state workforce agency resources.

The mission of the NLx is to provide the most accurate and comprehensive collection of real online job openings in order to achieve the highest level of efficiency for the nation's labor exchange – at no additional cost to state workforce agencies, employers and job seekers.

The NLx Steering Committee consists of ten employer representatives and ten state workforce agency representatives. It meets in-person twice a year, with most work accomplished via conference calls and emails. The NLx Steering Committee provides guidance and input on all programmatic and operations issues to this important initiative.
