Federal Government Remains in Shutdown Mode
As the 2014 Fiscal Year (FY) began on Tuesday, October 1, Congress was unable to reach an agreement to fund the federal government through a Continuing Resolution (CR), causing the first government shutdown since 1996 when the government was shutdown for 28 days, from December 16, 1995 to January 6, 1996.

USDOL Provides Supplemental Budget Funding for UI IT Modernization Projects

NASWA Gains New Affiliate, HCL America, Inc.
NASWA recently gained a new affiliate, with HCL America, Inc., becoming the 36th member of the program. HCL is a $6 billion leading global technology and IT enterprise comprising two companies listed in India - HCL Technologies and HCL Infosystems. Founded in 1976, HCL is one of India's original IT garage start-ups.
