E&T Committee Hosts Second Virtual State Roundtable Session on Delivering Workforce Services to Asylum Seekers and Refugees
NASWA’s Employment & Training Committee convened a virtual state roundtable session covering the delivery of workforce services to asylum seekers and refugees on Friday, December 8 with more than 25 members representing over 12 states in attendance.
This special convening began with a presentation from Kim Moore of the Maine Department of Labor, highlighting the ongoing initiatives in Maine aimed at connecting refugees and asylum seekers with career services and supports. This presentation was followed by remarks from Demetria Veasy of the Alaska Department of Labor & Workforce Development surrounding the state’s collaborative efforts to connect asylum seekers and refugees with career services and employment opportunities. This meeting concluded with a state roundtable session where members shared innovative strategies and approaches in this area.
