2021 State of the Workforce | Responding to the Pandemic

 The 2021 State of the Workforce Report focuses on how the workforce agencies in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands responded to assist American workers through one of the worst economic downturns our country has experienced. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, workforce agencies have worked tirelessly to assist an unprecedented number of individuals and implement a host of new unemployment insurance programs. NASWA appreciates the state contributions to this report.

Each state profile within the report includes:

  • Total claims processed
  • Total benefits paid
  • Innovative pandemic response strategies
  • Programs within the state workforce agency
  • State agency responsible for administering the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) core programs
