Concurrent Breakout Session: When Veterans Go to the Front of the Line - and When They Don't
Description
Track: Employment and Training
When Veterans Go to the Front of the Line - and When They Don't
Veterans and eligible spouses continue to receive priority of service (POS) for all USDOL-funded employment and training programs. But many people do not realize additional POS provisions exist in the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act - and that there are times when veterans could receive services after non-veterans. Come to this session to learn what POS means, how to apply POS, what is different about WIOA POS, and how POS is not the same as Veterans' Preference. Presenters from USDOL VETS and the North Carolina Department of Commerce will also share promising practices for successfully implementing POS in your state.
