Workforce IT Support Center's "Building Data Literacy for All" is a customized learning opportunity focused on data literacy and the critical role it plays in improving programs and services for customers. This three-part webinar series, designed for Senior Leaders, Policy Makers and Managers, continues on Thursday, June 13, 2024 (2:00 - 2:45 p.m. ET) with the second session, Data Storytelling: Communicating Insights for Impact.

During this three-part webinar series, leaders will come away with an enhanced understanding of:

  • How to ask for data and data-based information
  • Ways to communicate and apply data-based information
  • How to develop and sustain a culture founded on data-based information

OVERVIEW

In this webinar, participants will gain an understanding of the best ways to communicate and apply data-based information.

Presenters Cynthia Forland, Ph.D. and Scott Wheeler will guide learners through examples of visualizations and other types of communication tools, such as static reports, dashboards, etc. Participants will learn which tools are most effective for achieving data storytelling goals. Dr. Forland and Wheeler will also walk participants through how to apply data-based information and the review process.

Dr. Cynthia Forland, a workforce development and labor market expert, brings vast expertise in policy and analysis from her consultancy and senior management roles as the Washington State Employment Security Department. She has a Ph.D. in political philosophy from the New School for Social Research.

 

 

 

Scott Wheeler Headshot

 

Mr. Scott Wheeler, a workforce development expert, leverages a decade of leadership at the Washington State Employment Security Department and five years of consultancy. He has a Master’s of Public Administration from Evergreen State College.

This webinar series is designed for individuals who set strategic direction, make decisions that impact data initiatives and implement data-driven practices, particularly those who oversee Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), Unemployment Insurance (UI) or other workforce development programs and services.
