NASWA Sends Letter to Senate Majority and Minority Leaders Expressing Implementation Concerns in Potential EUC Extension
On Wednesday, March 19, NASWA President Mark Henry (MS), sent a letter and fact sheet to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and staff of relevant Appropriations and Authorizing committees, expressing the concerns of NASWA members with the implementation burdens and administrative requirements of the Emergency Unemployment Compensation Extension Act of 2014 (S. 2148).
USDOL’s Resource Data Collection Tool Revisited
Earlier this week, on March 18-20, states from NASWA’s Administration & Finance (A&F) and Unemployment Insurance (UI) Committees met with staff from the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) Employment and Training Administration’s (ETA) Office of Unemployment Insurance (OUI) concerning the Resource Justification Model (RJM).
Bureau of Labor Statistics Releases Assessment of Veterans Employment
On Thursday, March 20, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released their 2013 Employment Situation of Veterans report on unemployment rates among Gulf War-era II veterans, those who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces at any time since September 2001 and also all other veteran groups who served prior to 2001.
New Online Training Modules for Frontline Workforce Development Staff
Over 50 online training modules for frontline workforce development staff are now available at www.workforce3one.org, USDOL’s technical assistance website.
District of Columbia Recovers $1.4 Million in Unemployment Insurance Taxes
The District of Columbia Department of Employment Services (DOES) recently recovered $1.4 million in state unemployment taxes through an aggressive initiative to detect employer tax rate manipulation, also known as SUTA (State Unemployment Tax Act) dumping.
