Communications Committee Hosts Virtual Meeting

More than 50 members attended the Communications Committee’s virtual meeting on March 20, 2025. Committee Chair, Diane Watkins (DC Department of Employment) kicked off the meeting and shared recent leadership changes.

Leaders of the Committee’s four workgroups presented updates:

  • The Onboarding Workgroup has been welcoming new members and reaching out to members who have not attended recent meetings to reconnect them to the Committee.
  • The Outreach Workgroup collaborates to produce social media campaigns that are shared in the Committee’s Teams portal each month.
  • The AI Workgroup has been collecting feedback from committee members about their use of AI in communications.
  • The Resources Workgroup is also collecting feedback from committee members about which resources are of most value to the Committee and will be auditing the current resources available in the Teams portal.

Erin Turbitt (Wyoming Department of Workforce Services) shared a presentation on crisis communications, including the benefits of having a plan and the components of an effective plan. She also shared a crisis communications template with the Committee.

The Communications Committee’s next meeting will be held in Denver, CO, June 4-5.
