Serving Those Who Served: NASWA’s 2024 Veterans Conference

Nearly 500 attendees and presenters from 46 states, DC and Puerto Rico attended our 11th Annual Veterans Conference in Washington, DC. Veterans services staff from across the country gathered to network and learn together. 

Keynote speakers included retired Air Force Colonel Merryl Tengesdal, the first black woman to fly the U2 spy plane, retired USMC Lt. Col. And ZeroMils CEO Kevin Schmiegel, Student Veterans of America President Jared Lyon, a US Navy submariner/diver, and retired Army Lt. Col. Robin Johnson, a certified humor therapist. 

Two panels also presented – a group of Veteran entrepreneurs and another featuring representatives from Google, EY and USAA. There were 30 different workshops on a variety of topics. 

Two states were presented with the Mark Sanders Award for Exceptional Veteran Service – IowaWORKS Davenport Center and Washington State’s Workforce Joint Base Lewis-McChord
