Overview

The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is seeking applicants for a Assistant Attorney General (AAG) position with the Maryland Department of Labor, Division of Workforce Development and Adult Learning. The AAG will provide advice and representation to the Division on the substantive State and federal laws and regulations for which the Division is responsible, including the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014, as well as procurement, grants, data-sharing, and other contract matters.  The position's responsibilities include providing formal advice to the clients and day-to-day advice to the staff on a variety of legal matters related to the client's mission. 

Duties

Specific responsibilities include:

  • providing advice and counsel on legal issues affecting WIOA policymaking and administration including apprenticeship and adult education,
  • participating on committees and in meetings,
  • reviewing, analyzing and preparing legislation, policy and regulations, responding to Public Information Act Requests, and compliance with the Open Meetings Act,
  • providing legal advice regarding contract negotiations, disputes, modifications,
  • drafting and reviewing other legal documents for legal form and sufficiency,
  • working collaboratively with and supporting other assistant attorneys general regarding common workforce issues,
  • other duties as assigned.
