National Labor Exchange Research Hub
Did you know? NASWA publicly launched the National Labor Exchange (NLx) Research Hub – a national, open ecosystem of high-quality, real-time, and historical labor market information - to give workforce development professionals, researchers, and product developers a trusted and transparent source of job vacancy data.
Overarching goals of the NLx Research Hub are to:
- Increase the amount of actionable labor market information in the U.S. to facilitate the recruitment, hiring, and training opportunities of U.S. workers; and
- Deepen partnerships between industry, government, and academia by enhancing the infrastructure to support convergent research and product development.
The NLx Research Hub:
- Receives millions of jobs daily that represent a diversity of industries and occupations including job openings from small- and medium-sized employers that often aren’t found on any other source.
- Hosts jobs data from all 50 states, D.C., Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
- Provides access to NLx jobs data to government agencies, academic institutions, nonprofit organizations, and others.
- Works with users predicting the future of work and education as well as jobseekers, learners, employers, training providers, and policymakers utilizing self-service tools that rely on NLx data.
What does that mean for states? State workforce agencies have no-cost access to use the NLx Research Hub for analysis, research, and product development. To date, states have leveraged the Research Hub to address topics related to:
- Recession planning
- Supply and demand analysis and forecasting
- Finding skills-adjacent roles for career seekers
- Investigating the future of work in America Snapshot publications and job benefits analysis
- Helping employers more quickly locate local talent and improve signaling
- Building tools to inform jobseekers about training programs for local in-demand jobs
- Aiding local communities and policy makers in prioritizing workforce investments for the future
- And more…
