Registered Apprenticeship & Work-Based Learning Group

Registered Apprenticeship Meeting

NASWA’s Registered Apprenticeship & Work-Based Learning (RA-WBL) Group met virtually on Wednesday, January 25th with over 70 individuals in attendance representing more than 30 states.

Hosted by RA-WBL Group Co-Chairs Courtney Arbour (TX) and Steve Playl (TN), the meeting began with an update from John Ladd (Administrator, U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Apprenticeship) on upcoming funding opportunities, recent policy initiatives, and apprenticeship resources that states can leverage. This was followed by a presentation from the Council of State Governments’ Apprenticeship Data Alignment & Performance Technical Assistance Center on their recent work and support services. Pierre Dubuc (CEO & Cofounder of OpenClassrooms) then provided an overview of the organization’s unique, remote-first approach to expanding apprenticeships into in-demand sectors. The meeting concluded with a state roundtable session where members provided apprenticeship-related updates from their states. Video presentations by CSG and Pierre Dubuc are available.
