Registered Apprenticeship & Work-Based Learning Group Hosts Virtual Meeting

NASWA’s Registered Apprenticeship & Work-Based Learning Group convened a virtual meeting on Wednesday, October 25th with 45 attendees representing 22 states.

The meeting began with a federal partner update from John Ladd (Administrator, U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Apprenticeship). This update was followed by a presentation from Sarah Oldmixon (Managing Director, Partnership to Advance Youth Apprenticeship) and Bianca Dacres (Policy Analyst, Partnership to Advance Youth Apprenticeship) who shared insights about youth apprentice initiatives across the country. Attendees also heard a presentation from Josh Christianson (Project Director, Partnership on Inclusive Apprenticeship) centered on expanding apprenticeship access for individuals with disabilities. Additionally, the meeting featured a state roundtable where members had the opportunity to discuss plans for National Apprenticeship Week, initiatives in youth apprenticeship, efforts to broaden apprenticeship access for individuals with disabilities, and new registered apprenticeship programs.
